Parade

Pushing boundaries and pioneering new forms in Parade.

Noeline creates Parades that fuse creative disciplines to create large scale and epic stories that move through the streets. Weaving threads of text, visual image, performance, speech, smell, sound, and music, to find the special pattern of each one, bringing a parade to life. Noeline has spearheaded collaborations with local and international freelance artists, designers, performers, musicians and makers.

"I hope I've advanced the parade from something to be observed, to something that's completely immersive for audiences, communities, performers and artists."

"Amid sulphurous smoke, bubbles, leaves and fire, otherworldly creatures, giant elders, buxom ladies and non-binary figures wove a tale of wisdom, innocence, dreams and love.” Out of the Wild Sky - The Irish Times

"Noeline Kavanagh first directed a Macnas parade in 1998 whilst still a student. Returning as artistic director two decades later, she pioneered large-scale kinetic sculptures - pushing the boundaries of giant puppetry and interactivity - immersive spectacles, created community ensembles, toured internationally.” The Irish Times
